Family Session Q & A

When should I book my session?
The sooner the better. If you have a busy schedule and have limited availability it might be difficult for us to find a date that works for both of us. Therefore, it is better to book a few months in advance just to guarantee that you can get a session. My weekend availability is very limited throughout the summer and fall months. If you know that you can only do a weekend session don’t wait to book.

Can I book a mini session instead of a full session?
Mini sessions are only offered for special occasions and announcements will be made on my facebook page. Mini sessions are set up so that I am at one location and meet with several different families. They are cheaper than a full session but you get less images as they are for a much shorter period of time. If you would like a mini session please watch my facebook page for the announcements.

How do I pay for my session?
At the time of booking a nonrefundable deposit is due to secure your session. The remaining amount is due at the time of your session. This can be paid via PayPal or by check.

What time is best for sessions?
Early morning or late evening are best for lighting. No one wants photos where they are squinting or sweating from the sun beaming down. Therefore, in the summer, I try to shoot before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

Where will the session take place?
You may choose a location within Hendricks County. Anything outside this area will be subject to mileage charges. Try to find a unique location with lots of natural lighting along with shady areas. I have a list of some places if you are unsure of where to do the session but I am always up for a new location!

What should I wear?
It is best for the family to wear what they are comfortable in. When choosing colors  go with the rule of three. Choose three coordinating colors that flatter your skin tones and one being a pop of color. Accessories are always a great way to add color. Avoid busy patterns and large logos or prints. Check out my boards on pinterest for ideas.

What should we bring?
I bring everything needed except for your family! However, if you have anything special to you or your family such as a family quilt, a favorite toy or book, please bring those along. We will find a fun way to incorporate them into your photos.

What if I need to reschedule my session?
Sometimes weather interferes with sessions or something comes up and we must reschedule. If this happens, I will do my best to fit you into my schedule as soon as possible. Just please let me know as soon as you can that you need to reschedule so I can plan accordingly.

When will I get my digital files?
High resolution digital files of all edited images will be sent to the e-mail provided within two weeks of your session via Pixieset. I am usually done editing within 7-10 days depending on how many sessions I have had that week. From Pixieset the client can download the files to their personal computer and print them as they wish. You will also receive a print release allowing you to print the images.

If you prefer to have a CD of your images you may purchase one for an additional $25.  Please note that this will take an additional 5 days to get to you.

Where should I print my photos?
I highly recommend a professional printing lab to print your photos. I know it is convenient to print them at your local one hour lab but it is definitely worth the time to have a professional print them. My personal favorite is www.Mpix.com – they are fast, affordable, and the quality is great. No matter where you decide to print them just make sure that you do, indeed, print them!
