Studio Lifestyle Q & A

What should I wear?
It is best for the family to wear what they are comfortable in. You’re going to be snuggling on a bed so take that into consideration. For these particular sessions I highly recommend light colored neutrals or muted colors (pastels or jewel tones). The studio lifestyle bed set up is all white with touches of off white and gray. We want the focus to be on the emotion of you and your family and not on the clothes you’re wearing. Your shoes will be off… because shoes on a bed is weird, right? So think about if you want socks or bare feet.

For babies- you can never go wrong with a simple white or gray onesie.

Go simple. Don’t overthink it.

Are these for sessions for families?
These sessions are *best* for just kids or for mommy and kids. However, small families (4 family members or less) with young kids can be done. The studio space isn’t huge so we run out of room real quick.

How are these different than a regular family session?
Regular family sessions are outdoors and a little more posed (only slightly because I don’t really do super posed). Other than that, they aren’t much different. They are really relaxed – you and your family snuggling on a bed. Laughing. Telling stories. We will try to get images of the whole family as well as kids by themselves, mom with each kid, and dad with each kid.

What should we bring?
I bring everything needed except for your family! However, if you have anything special to you or your family such as a family quilt, a favorite toy or book, please bring those along. We will find a fun way to incorporate them into your photos.

What time is best for sessions?
These particular sessions depend on light from the window. Morning is best for studio lighting. Studio sessions usually begin around 10am.

Can I book a mini session instead of a full session?
I periodically offer lifestyle mini sessions. These are 10 minutes and you will get to choose your favorite 8 images. Watch my facebook page for announcements about upcoming lifestyle minis.

How do I pay for my session?
At the time of booking a nonrefundable deposit is due to secure your session. The remaining amount is due at the time of your session. This can be paid via PayPal or by check.

When will I get my digital files?
High resolution digital files of all edited images will be sent to the e-mail provided within two weeks of your session via Pixieset. I am usually done editing within 7-10 days depending on how many sessions I have had that week. From Pixieset the client can download the files to their personal computer and print them as they wish. You will also receive a print release allowing you to print the images.

Where should I print my photos?
I highly recommend a professional printing lab to print your photos. I know it is convenient to print them at your local one hour lab but it is definitely worth the time to have a professional print them. My personal favorite is – they are fast, affordable, and the quality is great. No matter where you decide to print them just make sure that you do, indeed, print them!
